HENDERSON — Lucille Floyd Perry, 88, formerly of Henderson, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at Louisburg Nursing Center in Louisburg. Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Porter Floyd and Lilah Buchanan Floyd and was the widow of Leon Wheless Perry.

She was a graduate of Henderson Business College. Throughout her

life, she served as a bookkeeper for her husband and a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Friends of the Library. She was a founder of Kerr Vance Academy and served on the Board of Directors.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Marion D. Lark and the Rev. Rusty Edwards. Burial will follow in Cokesbury United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Surviving are four daughters, Margaret P. Quinn of Lewisville, Lee P. Garrett of Henderson, Mary P. Hunt of Goldsboro and Julia P. Marsden, of Cape Town, South Africa; a son, Leon W. Perry III of Wake Forest; a sister, Virginia Ann F. Grissom of Henderson; a brother, Thomas W. Floyd of Henderson; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Ann Perry; and two brothers, Francis P. Floyd and Charles H. Floyd.

The family will receive friends today, from 7-9 p.m., at the home of Lee Garrett, 102 Beaver Tail Road, Henderson.

Serving as active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ronald Franklin Lynn Jr., Phillip Randolph Finch Jr., Garry Duran Hunt Jr., Thomas Henry Lynn, Joseph Perry Hunt, William Zachary Perry Morris, Leon Wheless Perry IV and Michael David Morris.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Eastern North Carolina Chapter, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 220, Raleigh, N.C., 27605; the Vance County Humane Society, P.O.
