Gerald Lawrence Hess passed away on October 15, 2021 in Green River, Utah. He was born to George Marion Hess and Chloe Knowlton Hess on July 26, 1926 in Ogden, Utah.

Gerald, fondly remembered as "Jerry", was employed by the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as an architect for 35 years. He also served three missions for the Church and served as a temple worker for over 30 years, during which he also served as a sealer. He earned his MBA, served in the U.S. Army and Navy, and retired as a Lt. Col. in the Div. of Military Intelligence. His hobbies included hunting, shooting, reading and anything else that would provide for his family and protect his country. A faithful man of God, he was a pillar of strength for his family ad will be sorely missed.

Gerald is survived by his only daughter, DeeLynn Hess DaCosta; 5 grandchildren, Ana Celia Hess DaCosta, Jessica Hess Cannon, David Hess DaCosta, Rachel Hess DaCosta and Jeremy Hess DaCosta; and 9 great grandchildren with one on the way.

He is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Green Hess, his parents, and his six siblings.

Services will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Wasatch Ward 1750 South 1500 East Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be held 1 hour prior to the service from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Interment to follow the service at Farmington City Cemetery 500 South 200 East, Farmington, Utah.
