Our townsman, Mr. H.R. Henning, informs us that on Wednesday last Mr. Jacob Ehlers, an old and respected citizen of Yell Township was killed by the fall of a tree. The tree after being cut down lodged against another. Cutting the second tree, he ran from the stump to escape it, but ran in the wrong direction and was struck in the head, killing him instantly. He was well known in this part of the county, and highly esteemed for his sobriety, honesty and industry. He was a German by birth, and leaves a wife and three children.
