He is survived by his sons, Neal Callahan (Jennifer) of Springfield, Missouri and Jack Callahan (Suzanne) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; his three beloved grandchildren, Emily Prince of Springfield, Missouri, Chase Callahan (Morgan) and Carter Callahan (Hillary) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; his three precious great grandchildren, John Wilson Callahan, Camryn Callahan and Cooper Callahan, all of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one sister, Shirley Kerby of Rolla, Missouri; one brother-in-law, Richard Paxton (Hazel) of Olive Branch, Mississippi; four nephews, Mike, Jeff and Tim Paxton and Ryan Kerby; two nieces, Denise Frazier and Melinda Kerby; other relatives; and many friends.
Travis was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Reba (Paxton) Callahan; his parents, Carl B. and Doshia (Staggs) Callahan; mother and father-in-law, Lonnie and Anna Mae (Lasseter) Paxton; one brother-in-law, Cletes Kerby; one nephew, Richard Kerby; and his life-long best friend, Jessie Martin.
He was a 1948 graduate of Mammoth Spring High School and served our country in the Korean War. His life's work was working for the Frisco (Burlington Northern) railroad as a locomotive engineer until his retirement in 1992.
A devout Christian and prayer warrior, Travis was consistent in lifting up all of his friends, family and loved ones in prayer to our Father in heaven. He could often be found volunteering at his local church serving others. Travis was a member and deacon of the First Assembly of God Church in Thayer and was instrumental in the construction of the new church.
Travis will be remembered for his servant's heart and loving spirit. He exhibited Christ's love to all, especially his wife, his sons and their children.
He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services for Travis Jackson Callahan, age 91, of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, will be held on Saturday. October 16. 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Jeff Paxton officiating.
Burial will be on Saturday, October 16. 2021 in Riverside Cemetery in Mammoth Spring. Arkansas with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.
