It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Lou (Hollier) Merritt announces her passing on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 peacefully at home.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 27, 2021 at 11am in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville .The family will receive friends starting at 10am at the funeral home.

Interment will be at 1pm in the Jacksonville National Cemetery.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, John D. Merritt Sr. of Ambrose, Ga. Two daughters, Donna Day and husband Garry and Vickie Frasier; One sister, Annetta Soileau of Hathaway, LA; Six grandchildren, Bruce Day; Hannah Chabot and husband Samuel; Jennifer Wise-Ferry and husband John; Jessica Driskell and husband Brandon; Daniel Sandiford; David Sandiford. Six great-grandchildren, Isaac Day; Sarah Day; Dominik Chabot; Caylee Wise; Jace Driskell; Elijah Driskell; Also many more nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and special thank you to her niece Deborah Jenrette and great-niece Heather Miller.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alcee and Vernice (Landreneau) Hollier of Mamou, LA; and two sisters Maudraline Gidlow of Jennings, LA and Leura Belle Diaville of Eunice, LA; and her son John D. Merritt Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.
