A memorial service will be held in Yountville Sunday for Stanley B. Anderson Jr., owner of S. Anderson Vineyards, who died April 17, apparently of a stroke. He was 67.

Dr. Anderson was a practicing dentist in Pasadena for 30 years. In 1971, he and his wife Carol began commuting to the Napa Valley on weekend, planning and eventually building their 120-acre dream winery estate.

He retired from dentistry in 1985, after having served as a member of such professional organizations as the State Board of Dental Examiners, the San Gabriel Valley Dental Association, the Board of Directors of Delta Dental, and the American and International College of Dentists.

The Anderson's 7000 square foot caves built into the Yountville hillside were the setting for a series of candlelit concerts and are used for aging the Anderson champagnes, chardonnays and cabernets.

Survivors include his wife Carol and their four children: John, Carrie, Caren and Jamie. Carol Anderson, John Anderson and daughter-in-law Tracy Anderson will carry on the business, the family said.

The memorial service will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. at the S. Anderson Winery, 1473 Yountville Cross Road, Yountville.
