86-year-old John W. Shelton Jr. of Fairfield, died Wednesday afternoon October 13 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield. John was born November 29, 1934 in Posey County, Indiana to Louella (Dart) and John W. Shelton Sr. He married Roberta K Overbee on July 16, 1956 in Keenes. His wife preceded him in death along with his parents, a daughter and two great-grandchildren.
John was a self-employed mechanic in Fairfield for several years. After retirement, he worked for Frey Produce. John was an avid coon hunter. A member of the American Red Bone Coon Hunters Association and Wayne County Coon Club. John is survived by his sons, John R. (Mikki) Shelton, Bill (Tonya) Shelton, Mike (Traci) Shelton, and Jeff Shelton all of Fairfield; one brother, Robert Shelton of Houston, Texas; seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.
