David Owen, 83 of Rotterdam, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021, at home.

He was born in Albany, New York to the late Lester Owen and Helen Harmon Owen.

He was a graduate of Guilderland High School.

He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1973, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

David worked for the Golub Corporation for many years.

In July of 2009 he married Lynne Connolly, his best friend and soul-mate.

He devoted most of his life to helping people through the fellowship of AA (Friends of Bill W). David was a power of example in the recovery of addiction. Within the community of AA, he formed a softball medium pitch league at Central Park and Sportsman's Park.

The highlight of his day was enjoying the food (coffee) and company at his two favorite diners Broadway Lunch and The Bellevue Café.

He leaves behind a sister Inez Owen Hannigan, of Rotterdam, New York and is survived by a daughter.

He is also survived by a nephew James (Sherry) Hannigan of Myrtle Beach, SC, two nieces Donna (Mike) Crandall and Diane (Louis) Martin of Rotterdam, New York as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Burial will follow at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
