In 1940 he married Bertha Pavey, and they lived in Belgrade for two years. He then became the manager of several ranches throughout Montana. In 1968 the couple moved to South Dakota where he managed the Love Ranch west of Mobridge on Snake Creek. He moved into the city of Mobridge in 1971 where he spent the balance of his life.
Andy was an animal lover all his life and trained dogs as well as cattle and horses. He spent his lifetime as a cowboy. He was a member of the Three Forks Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife and two children, Jim Hinshaw and Ethel (Hinshaw) Renner.
