George Joseph Bachman, the son of Fred and Pearl (Omel) Bachman, was born at Danvers, Illinois, on May 25, 1916, and died suddenly at Aurora, Nebraska, on May 19, 1994, at the age of 77 years, 11 months, and 24 days.

In 1921, the family moved to Giltner, where he attended Douglas Country School near Giltner. He began farming in the Giltner area, and continued until his retirement in 1982, and then remained on the farm and cared for his large garden.

George was a member of the Giltner United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Leta Bachman and Edith Luthy, and an infant brother.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his 4 brothers, Harold of Giltner, Carl of Long Beach, California, and Earl and Elmer, both of Giltner; one sister Viola Dolan of Huntington Beach, California; and nieces and nephews..
