Omar Reyes, 60, passed from this life into the arms of his Savior and Lord on October 6, 2021. He was born to Amado and the late Heriberta Reyes on March 31, 1961.

Omar attended the University of Texas at Brownsville and received an Associate's degree in General Education. He was a valued employee of the Rio Hondo Independent School District. For the last sixteen years, he worked as a Lab Manager for credit recovery at Rio Hondo High School.

He was a devout Christian and a faithful, lifelong member of La Trinidad Assembly of God in Rio Hondo where he served as a Deacon, Associate Pastor, Praise and Worship Leader, Youth Leader, and Sunday School Superintendent.

In his leisure time, he loved to cook and entertain, sing, and spend time with his family. Omar was generous and loving and was always willing to offer a helping hand to others.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Heriberta Reyes, and brothers, Omero and Misael Reyes.

Left to treasure Omar's memory is his wife, Cokina Reyes; his children, Kristy (Adan) Ponce, Kevin (Katie) Reyes, Kimberly (Christopher) Lopez; grandchildren, Landen, Luke, Ava, Kendyl, Kaysen, Liam, Khianna, and Baby Hezekiah. He is also survived by his father, Amado Reyes; sister, Thelma Reyes; brothers, Roy Lee, Amado Jr. (Alana), Eloy (Linda), Joel (Patsy), and Rolando (Adrienne).

The Reyes family will receive relatives and friends at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A service to celebrate Omar's life and God's faithfulness will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Chapel A of the funeral home. A Homegoing Service will take place Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at La Trinidad Assembly of God, 213 Madero Avenue, in Rio Hondo. Following the service, Omar will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Kevin Reyes, Roy Lee Reyes, Amado Reyes, Jr., Eloy Reyes, Joel Reyes, and Rolando Reyes. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Adan Ponce, Christopher Lopez, Daniel Reyes, Landen Ponce, Lalo Reyes, Liam Hernandez, and Luke Ponce.
