GWOZDZ Fr. Thomas Gwozdz, OFM Conv., of Danbury, died at Pope John Paul Center for Health Care on Monday, December 3, 2007 after a long illness. He was born in Chicopee, Mass. on July 14, 1929, son of the late Walter and Stella (Przybyla) Gwozdz. Fr. Tom professed his vows as a Conventual Franciscan Friar in 1947 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1953. For 40 years, he faithfully served God and God's People as a parish priest, a high school teacher and a pastor in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York. Fr. Tom is survived by his brothers of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual; his cousins in the East, Irene Jendrek and her husband, Richard and Jean Hanacek and her husband, James; as well as several cousins in Houston and Dallas, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 11 a.m. Private burial will be in Fr. Tom's home city of Chicopee, Mass. at a later date. Friends may call on Thursday, December 6, 2007 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 12 Cottage St., Danbury, with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. Contributions in memory of Fr.
