Sheila A. (Armstrong) Brockman, 62, of Streator passed away Monday, October 11, 2021 at her residence in Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church (St. Stephen's), Streator. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Thursday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 6:45 P.M. Additional visitation will be Friday morning from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Streator.

She was born January 5, 1959, the daughter of John Paul and Arlene Camilla (Daniher) Armstrong. She married Steven C. Brockman on December 26, 1987 at St. Patrick's Church in Dwight.

She is survived by her husband: Steven Brockman of Streator; daughters: Molly Brockman of Streator and Kathleen "Kate" Brockman of Streator; a son: Sean (Abbigale Taylor) Brockman of Streator; grandchildren: Isaac Brockman; and Isabel and Roman Macias.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Raised in Dwight she graduated from Dwight Township High School in the class of 1977. She later graduated from Eastern Illinois University in the class of 1981 with a B.S. in Music and Elementary Education.

She taught through the years for Clarke Elementary in Ft. Hood, Texas. She taught junior high for 19 years at St. Anthony and St. Michael's grade school. She later taught at Ransom Grade School.

She was a member of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Parish.

Sheila enjoyed a brief moment of fame in 1999 when she led her students in a letter writing campaign stopping the proposed demotion of Pluto as a planet.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
