Mr. Smith was born December 5, 1942, in Nashville to the late Woodrow Wilson and Virginia Brown Smith. He was a retired machinist from Peterbilt and was of the Pentecostal faith. Mr. Smith loved his job, working on vehicles, fishing, welding, listening to bluegrass, gospel, and country music. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and if he didn't have a chore he was working on, then you would find him sitting and whittling with his always sharp pocketknife. It didn't matter if he was working or taking leisure time, you most always heard him whistling whatever he was doing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: J.D., Clayton, Wendell, and Eugene Smith. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 59 years: Frances Dorris Smith of Greenbrier, by his sons and daughters-in-law: Ricky Smith of Greenbrier, Jerry and Becky Smith of Goodlettsville, David and Dana Smith of Springfield, by his daughter and son-in-law: Brenda and Bobby Whiting of Adairville, KY, by his brothers: Landon Smith of Springfield, Gary Smith of Guthrie, KY, by his sister: Maurine Smith of Nevada, and by his 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
