CENTRAL CITY -- Craig Mason, 13, died on Wednesday afternoon in a mishap with a live electrical wire. He was playing in a group of youngsters with a water hose in the yard at the Stanley Pflughaupt home about a mile west of Central City.
Authorities are not sure what happened, but somehow the boy came in contact with a live wire. When the fire department rescue squad arrive shortly after 2 p.m. he was lying on the ground with the wire on top of him.
Craig was born on January 10, 1956, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a member of the seventh grade at the Central City Community School and a member of the United Methodist Church of Central City.
Surviving are his parents, Ward Mason and Mrs. Kern Leser of Central City; his stepfather, Kern Lester of Central City; a sister, Mrs. Robert Church of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Spec. 4 Steven Mason with the Army at Ft. Benjamin Harris, Indiana, and Pvt. Bradford Mason with the Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; and his grandparents, Mrs. Teckla Mason of Cedar Rapids and Clarke Mason of Central City.
Services at the United Methodist Church of Central City, conducted by Rev. Martin Miller. Burial in Mt. Clark Cemetery.
