Clovis:
Literally cooked by lightning with many bones shatterd and large patches of skin burned off, the body of Robert I Bowman a farmer living near Grady thirty miles north of here was brought to this city yesterday. Yesterday evening Bowman was driving along in a wagon distributing fence posts on his claim. The bolt struck him as he was standing in the wagon and death was instantaneous. E C Huffman a neighbor who was also standing in the wagon three feet away was stunned and knocked out of the wagon but escaped without any other injury. The mule team was knocked down but the animals struggled to their feet and ran away being finally stopped by passersby. The remains were taken in charge by Undertaker Weed who will ship the body to Macomb Oklahoma. Bowman who was 25 and unmarried was a splendid speciman of manhood physically and was well liked in the section.
