Paul D. Bullock, 77, of Peoria died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at his home.

He was born Sept. 26, 1930, in South Carrollton, Ky., son of Otis and Ella Dennis Bullock. He married Leona Verne Barnes on Dec. 30, 1950, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on July 30, 1994, in Peoria.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Danny Crocker; and one sister, Loretta Settles.

Surviving are two daughters, Debby (Roy) Barnett of Peoria and Rebecca Bullock of Folsom, Calif.; one son, Dean Bullock of Folsom, Calif.; and three sisters, Lorine Brown of South Carrollton, Ky., Dorothy (Allan) Oschner of Franklin Park and Willa (Mathew) Neal of Powderly, Ky.

He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, inducted in September 1951 and honorably discharged in July 1953 as sergeant first class.

Paul was the owner and operator of Peoria Bleach Company and worked as a machinist at Caterpillar Inc. for 41 years, retiring in June 1990.

He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 974, where he was a Union Steward. He has served on the Peoria Animal Review Board and the building and grounds committee for the Peoria Friendship House for many years. He has served as president of the Averyville Homeowners Association, was a member of Near North Side Improvement Association, a member of the Northside Averyville Coalition and he was involved with grant writing for neighborhood improvements.

Paul was a volunteer for Neighborhood Ministries, Steamboat Classic Run, World Changer, a committee member of Crime Night Out and a member of the city of Peoria Fightback Program.

He was also a graduate of the Peoria Citizens Police Academy.

Paul was a member of Madison Avenue United Methodist Church, where he held many positions within the church.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
