Mickey Eugene Ramsey, 81, of Palestine, IL, died unexpectedly on October 5, 2021. He was born on December 18, 1939, in Palestine, IL, the son of James V. & Helen (Leach) Ramsey. He grew up in the Palestine area and was a 1958 graduate of Palestine High School. He would go on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy, spending most of his tenure on the USS Lake Champlain. Following his honorable discharge, Mick returned home to work in the construction trade before becoming an ironworker. A longtime member of Terre Haute Local #439, his hand was involved with many local projects, including the Palestine softball diamond and the football field's new announcer's booth.

Much of his time away from work was spent on the open road. Mick was, by all accounts, a Harley man, through and through. In fact, his bike, Baby Doll, was more of a companion to him than it was a motorcycle! Together, they made several trips to destinations such as Sturgis and Daytona. Back home, mornings were for coffee, crossword puzzles, and cryptoquips. For years, he enjoyed running lines at the Wabash River and frying fish for his loved ones to enjoy. He was also known to kick back and watch TV, namely "Charmed" and "Gunsmoke". Evenings often found him at the Saratoga, where he loved socializing with the other regulars. They, as well as his other friends and family members, will remember Mick as a man who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He always looked for the good in others and lit up any room he walked into with his one-of-a-kind humor and wit. He will never, nor could he ever, be forgotten.

He married Connie (Hyre) on December 18, 2007, and she survives. He is also survived by his kids & their spouses, Robert & Melanie Ramsey (Lawrenceville, IL), Tina Webber & Marvin "Buster" Fuller (Palestine, IL), Mike & Kim Kingery (Foley, AL), Tonya Ramsey (Watson, IL), and Brandy & Richard Miller (Palestine, IL); as well as many grandkids, great-grandkids, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Thomas Ramsey and James L. Ramsey.
