Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery, Newman.

Mrs. Soards died at 5 a.m. Friday, Aug 5, 1988 at Continental Manor Nursing Home, Newman.
She was born March,6, 1924 at Arcola, daughter of Brady and Mattie Woodcock Owen. She married James Soards on Aug 12, 1944 at Paris. He died Oct 26, 1987.
Survivors include a daugher Virginia South of Cayuga, IN; a brother, Delbert Owen of Decatur; and two sisters; Clodine Puckett of Mattoon and Irene Woody of Paris.
She was preceded in death by a brother. Mrs. Soards was a member of Sidell Baptist Church.
