Educator and professor. President of Claremont College, Hickory, North Carolina. Founder and President of Powhaton College for Young Women at Charles Town, West Virginia in 1900. In September 1912, he joined his brothers in a real estate development and insurance firm in Tampa, Florida. He also taught at Tampa Business College where his brother, Linius Monroe Hatton, was president.

S. P. HATTON DIES TWO DAYS AFTER HIS BROTHER
Stewart Price Hatton, 83, of 3406 Santiago St., father of the late Rondo Hatton, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at the residence.
Mr. Hatton, who was born in Columbia, Mo., recently returned from California, where he had lived with his son, who was an actor. Prior to going to California, Mr. Hatton had lived in Tampa for many years and taught at the Tampa Business College.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Emily L. Hatton.
Mr. Hatton's brother, M. W. Hatton, 80, died at a Tampa hospital Saturday. Double funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the B. Marion Reed Funeral Home, Plant Ave. and Platt St., with the Rev. William H. Kadel, pastor of the Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, officiating.
