Mrs. Herb Wahl nee Mary Friesen of Stonewall passed away on Thursday September 30th in the New Haven Memory Care Center in Kerrville at the age of 81 years.
Mary was born October 10, 1939 in Saskatchewan, Canada to Jacob and Helen Harder Friesen.
Mary married Herb Wahl on June 22, 1957 in Canada.
Mary is survived by two daughters: Angie Wahl; Darlene and her husband Craig Pirot
Grandson and spouse: Jonathan and Katey Pirot
Granddaughters: Amanda Pirot and April Fegan
Sisters: Bertha RedeKopp, Tina Friesen, Anne GiesBrecht
Brothers: Abe, Geroge, and Ed Friesen
Along with her husband Herb of 62 years, Mary was preceded in death by a son Trevor Wahl, siblings: Margaret Wiebe, and Henry Friesen
Mary married Herb at a young age and helped him build a service station business. After having two daughters and adopting a son, the family moved to California where they continued to run a service station business.
Mary also worked as a real estate agent and later a nurse's aide.
Her favorite hobby was painting landscapes, and there are many beautiful scenes left behind by her talented hand. She sold some of these to customers of their peach orchard.
They sold their business and retired to Stonewall, Texas where they purchased a peach orchard, still running today, called Wahl's Peaches. They moved to Fredericksburg in 2015 and continued to run the orchard as well as attend and serve at First Baptist Church of Fredericksburg.
Recently Mary has been in an assisted living in Kerrville, where she could be closer to her daughters who had moved to Texas to help out both with Mom and the orchard.
Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Memorial contributions in Mary's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday October 9th at 10:00 a.m. in the Family Chapel at Greenwood Cemetery with her Grandson, Jonathan Pirot officiating.
Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
