Elfreda J. Anderson

Elfreda Joy Anderson, age 89, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Miller-Dwan Hospital in Duluth. She was born in Dill City, Oklahoma in August of 1932, the daughter of Robert "Lee" Stubblefield and Ellen Gray (Morris) Stubblefield. She graduated from Dill City High School in 1950. She married Einar G. Hanson in June of 1951and Carl R. Anderson in Nov. 1971. Lived in Texas, Oklahoma, and southern MN until moving to Lake Nichols in 1961. Freda was always a hard worker, helped others, worked for people who lived at the lake, served as a State Fire Warden for 50 years (1964-2014), cooked five course dinners for Deerslayers, Inc. (1964-1984), she was Northland Township Clerk, an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Canyon and retired from K-Mart.

God had a plan for Mom. She came into this world to be a daughter, sister, niece, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, mother-in-law, neighbor, friend, grandmother, great grandmother and more. You may have known her as Freda, Granny, the Rooster Lady, or Onionhead (her CB handle). Mom loved gardening, canning, raising chickens, cooking, baking, dancing, snowmobiling, four wheeling, quilting, and was the "Queen of Mending" who wasted nothing. Loved listening to country, gospel, and polka music.

Elfreda was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Einar G. Hanson and Carl R. Anderson; her son Clifton Hanson, her brother Clifton Stubblefield; two sisters, Nadine Banwart and Mary J. Elliott.

She is survived by her children, Joyleen Vicki (Scott) Schneider, Craig (Kristen) Hanson, Jocelyn Mary (Ken) Currier and Jean Rindahl; 8 grandchildren, Rick, Cole, Heather, Crystal, Vicki, Daryl, Kristi, Erik; 12 great-grandchildren, Raina, Bella, Ella, Annabel, Ivy, Joey, Izzy, Dalila, Chloe, Rhowyn, Brody, Brooklyn, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

This woman of Lake Nichols also leaves behind generous, caring, and giving neighbors and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 6, 2021, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. The visitation will resume Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. funeral service at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Canyon. Interment service will be at the Northland Cemetery, followed with a luncheon at Canyon Town Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
