LEWISBURG--Jean A. Dieffenbach, 73, a resident of 470 Red Top Lane, Lewisburg, for the past 25 years, and formerly of Watsontown, died Sunday January 11, 2004. at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg where she was most recently hospitalized on January 2. She had been ill for one month.
She was born July 17, 1930, in Lewisburg, a daughter of D. Elneda Caris Good Ungard, a resident of RiverWoods, Lewisburg and the late Nevin Good. She married Ray W. Dieffenbach, who survived. They celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary of July 2. Mrs Dieffenbach was a 1948 graduate of Montandon High School. She was also a graduate of Thompson Business School, Harrisburg.
She was employed for more than 33 years at the EvangelicaL Community Hospital, retiring in 1996 as a medical records clerk. Mrs. Dieffenbach was an active member of the Watsontown Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, served on the Church Leadership Board and was a member and past president of the American Baptist Women. She enjoyed attending the Wednesday morning Bible study group.
Mrs. Dieffenbach was a member of the Montandon Alumni Association and an active member of a Watsontown card club for many years. She was known for her cooking skills and collection of cookbooks. She enjoyed knitting, dining out with her husband and will be especially remembered for faithfully sending cards to her large extended family on special occasions.
Surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, were two sons, David R. and his wife Joan E. Dieffenbach of Watsontown and Kenneth G. and his wife Susan M. Dieffenbach; seven, grandchildren, Amy L. Cromley, David R. Dieffenbach II, Josh H. LeCuru, Laura M. LeCuru, Rodney R., Derrick W. and Kenneth G. Dieffenbach Jr.; one sister, Lucille Hobbes of Tunkhannock; and one brother, William Good of Montandon.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Kling.
Services were held at the Cronrath Funeral Home, 308 Main Street, Watsontown, and from the Watsontown Baptist Church, Main and Fifth St., Watsontown, where the funeral followed with her pastor, the Reverend James R. Ritter, officiating.
Burial was in the Watsontown Cemetery.
