Thomas and his brother Nathaniel were convicted in 1849 in York, Yorkshire, England, to 15 years for burglary. He was transported to Western Australia aboard the ship "HASHEMY", arriving on 25 October 1850. This was his second conviction, the first was on 6 April 1840 for two counts of larceny and was sentenced to six months imprisonment.
Thomas was married with two children. Wife: Sarah HORSEFIELD nee WANDBY, married 13 May 1838 at St John's Parish Church, Beverley, Yorkshire, England. In 1849 she was living in Beverley, Yorkshire, England. Children: Roseanna/Rose Hannah (b. 1838), Matthew Nathaniel (1840-1840) and William George (b. 1843).
