Una Katherine Trumbo Payne was born August 8, 1924, in Newark, Ohio to George Franklin and Ortha Beatrice Liggins Trumbo. At age 76, she passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2000, in Columbus, Ohio.
Because of her love for children, she was a lifelong educator. Katherine has been a member of St. Paul AME Church since 1952, where she was an active member of many organizations until she became ill.
She was preceded in death by parents, George and Ortha Trumbo; brother, Harry Dorsey; and nephew Larry Turner.
Katherine leaves to mourn her loving husband of 49 years, James B.L. Payne; son, Samuel Franklin (Debra) Payne Sr.; daughter, Kay Lynn Payne; brother, George (Sarah Harper) Trumbo of Cleveland; sisters-in-law, Mignon Dorsey and Lisl Payne of Calif. and Willie Watson of North Carolina.; grandchildren, Lt.
