Mary Elizabeth Russell Coates, 75, of Palmyra, died March 12, 2001 in the Martha Jefferson Hospital. She was born October 23, 1925 in Virginia and was the widow of Eugene Kyle Coates. She was also preceded in death by one son, Earl Carter Fair; and one grandson, Scott Hall. Survivors include three daughters, Eva Elizabeth Smith and her husband, Robert of Richmond, Mildred Anne Marks of Yorktown and Mary Eleanor Botkin and her husband, Fred of Richmond; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Sheridan Funeral Home Chapel, Kents Store, with interment to follow in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Bobby Green will officiate. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Sheridan Funeral Home.
