Ora Shook Sigmon, age 96, of Claremont, NC, died Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
Born August 10, 1911 in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur Shook and Bertha Little Shook. Mrs. Sigmon was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. She had been employed by Conover Glove and retired from Southern Glove of Conover.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Claude F. Sigmon; brothers, Claude Shook and Clarence Shook; sister, Pearl Trimm; sons, Hugh Franklin Sigmon and Harold Dean Sigmon; and grandson, Michael Hoke.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Mary S. Hoke and husband, Jack, and Linda S. Lytton and husband, Benny, both of Claremont; daughter-in-law, Catherine Sigmon of Conover; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and former daughter-in-law, Edna M. Sigmon Ledford of Newton.
A service of remembrance was held Dec. 4, 2007 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Claremont. Rev. Dr. William K. Hollar, Jr. officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Drum Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Conover, NC.
