FANNIE CASSELL BOYER

Fannie Cassell Boyer, 98, a longtime resident of the Forest Grove community, died Friday evening, February 24, 2006 at the Beehive Assisted Living Community in Forest Grove, Oregon.
A Celebration of Fannie's Life will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at the Christian Church of Hillsboro, 530 N.E. Edison Street in Hillsboro, with Jim Keefe, Minister, officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception immediately following the celebration service, to be held in the fellowship hall of the church.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Union Point Cemetery, 500 Banks Road in Banks.
FANNIE CASSELL BOYER was born July 8, 1907 in Gandy, Nebraska, the daughter of the late John Edward Cassell and Eliza Jane (Reckard) Cassell. She was raised and received her education in Stapleton, Nebraska.
She was united in marriage to Marion Jasper Boyer on July 21, 1928 in North Platte, Nebraska. Following their marriage they resided in Stapleton, Nebraska until
1941 when they moved to Oregon, settling in the Banks community.
Fannie was preceded in death by her husband, Marion, on April 3, 1947 after celebrating over eighteen years of marriage together.
She and her family later moved to the Mountaindale community, where they raised over twenty goats on their farm. For several years they produced and sold goat milk from their family farm. Fannie later returned to the Banks community, where she lived until 1971 when she moved to the Forest Grove community, where she had resided since.
Fannie worked for several years in the food service industry for Sunset Packing. She also loved children and enjoyed babysitting and was known to many as "Grandma".
She was a member of the women's auxiliary of the V.F.W. Martin J. Ryan Post in Hillsboro, Oregon and Banks American Legion Post No. 90. While raising her children, she served as a Cub Scout Leader and volunteered for many groups including the Union Point Cemetery Annual Dinner and Bazaar. Fannie enjoyed making monkey dolls from socks which she donated to several fundraisers in the Banks community. She also would host usually 25 children each year on Halloween to take out to trick or treat around town. In 1967, Fannie was crowned Sunset Mother in Banks, Oregon. In 2004, she was recognized as the Rose Queen at Marquis at Forest Grove, where she was a guest resident.
Among her special interests she enjoyed crossword puzzles, embroidery and baking, her specialties included cinnamon rolls, bread pudding, oatmeal cookies and potato salad.
Fannie was preceded in death by her parents, her three sons, Kermit "Pete" Compton; Chris "Bub" Edward Boyer and Martin William Boyer; her two daughters, Faye Marie Boyer and Patty June Boyer; her five brothers, Walter, Charlie, Howard, Herman and Frank.


Survivors include her three sons and their spouses, Leo D. and Marilyn Boyer, of Gaston, Oregon; Arthur W. and Pam Boyer, of Hillsboro, Oregon; and Myron J. Boyer and his Partner, Mark Dubinsky, of Portland, Oregon; and her daughter-in-law, Mable M. Compton, of Forest Grove, Oregon.
Also surviving are her ten grandchildren, Kevin Boyer, of Bothell, Washington; Michael Boyer and his wife, Nichole, of McMinnville, Oregon; Tyra Poff and her husband, Aaron, of West Linn, Oregon; Kelly Boyer, of Banks, Oregon; Dean Boyer and his wife, Cheryl, of San Antonio, Texas; and Gary Boyer and his Partner, Michael Foy, of Portland, Oregon, Judy Moor and her husband, Jeff, of Hillsboro, Oregon, Leanna Hauck and her husband, Terry, of Portland, Oregon; her eleven great-grandchildren, Nathan and Amanda Boyer; Isaac Boyer; Kassidy Shurtz; Cody and Camryn Poff; and Amber and Sean Boyer; Howard Gore; Bradley and Krischelle Bremer; and several nieces and nephews,
The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to a charity of choice, in her memory.
