Betty Jean Shanks, 93 of Columbus, KS died September 29, 2021 at Medicalodges in Columbus.

She was born June 17, 1928 on (R.R.#1) Hallowell, KS the daughter of Virgil Z. and Nellie M. (McFarling) Fee. Betty married James H. Shanks on March 15, 1947 in Oswego, Kansas, he preceded her in death on September 22, 2017.

She was a high school graduate from Columbus high school. Betty was Clerical worker for a water company.

She was a very crafty lady who enjoyed crocheting and embroidering. She loved her grandchildren and was a very good cook.

Betty is survived by her daughter; Glenna J. (Benny) Vernon of Oswego, KS, 2 sisters; Joyce M. Ingram of Lee Summit, MO, Donna J. Maison of Blue Springs, MO, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, son; Steven H. Shanks, sister; Vionna P. Shanks, and 2 grandkids; Brian and Evan Shanks,

Graveside services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Columbus, KS.

Arrangements and services are under the direction of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Columbus, KS.
