Brenda Sue Adams, 78, of Martinsville, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Community South Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was born Wednesday, August 25, 1943, to the late Leonard Arney and Lucille (Walls) Arney Williams in Odon, Indiana.

Brenda proudly served her community as a public servant for several years. After several support roles, she served as Morgan County Treasurer for eight years from 1987-1994. From 1995-2002, Brenda served as the Morgan County Auditor. After that, she served two years on the Morgan County Council before being appointed back to the Morgan County Auditor position. She served another nine years as the Morgan County Auditor before retiring in 2014.

Along with her husband Steve, Brenda loved to travel, especially to the beach. Although Brenda never wanted to appear "gaudy," she had an infatuation with yellow roses – some say that God made them just for her. She loved to walk on the beach and collect shells and sand dollars while watching the waves, trying to catch a glimpse of the dolphins. She had an affinity for shopping, chai tea lattes, chocolate-covered cherries, going to the theater, and gambling. Above all, Brenda loved spending time with her family, particularly her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen J. "Steve" Adams; son, Stephen Adams II, and his wife Jacqueline; daughter, Michelle "Shelli" Love, and husband Steve; grandchildren, Ashleigh P. Adams, Jianni B. Adams, Stephen Adams, III; half-sister, Kay (Arney) Lavender.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Leonard, and Lucille; her step-father, Jack Williams, brothers, Roscoe Arney and Robert Arney.

Visitation is 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2021, at Costin Funeral Chapel. Services are 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021, with an hour of visitation prior to the service starting at 12:00 p.m.

Burial will be at New South Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation in memory of Brenda to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at pulmonaryfibrosis.org. More information will be available at the funeral home as well.
