After graduating from high school, Hasib worked as an electrical engineer in a local steel mill. Later, he married Šuhra Husika in Zenica and the couple raised three children together.
Hasib and Šuhra immigrated to the United States in April of 1992, fleeing the genocide in Bosnia. They settled in Connecticut where their daughter lived.
Hasib died a few months later on October 16, 1992 in Manchester, Connecticut. He never got a chance to return to his homeland or see his family again.
