Gertrude McFarland, homemaker and loving mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away one day before turning 97, Oct. 31, 2013, at Lewiston Rehab and Care (Kindred) in Lewiston.

Gertrude was born Nov. 1, 1916, to Robert F. and Hattie (Williams) Pound in Clarkston. She attended Clarkston High School. She married Walter DeBorde in 1933 at Clarkston, which later ended in divorce.

Gertrude married Fred S. McFarland on July 26, 1947, at Carson City, Nev., and they made their home in Clarkston until her death.

She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her sisters. She enjoyed car rides, fishing, gardening, loved all her indoor plants, mushrooming, crocheting, and wrestling, especially The Rock.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter and Fred; her parents, Robert J. Pound, Hattie, and Bill Pruett; sisters Jewell Voss, Peggy Pruett; and brother Leslie Pound.

She has 13 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
