Mary Susan (Sue) Cherry passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 11, 1935, to Abram and Ruth Hey of Sterling, IL.
Sue grew up in Sterling alongside her brother, Phil and sister,Janna. She was a graduate of Sterling High School, attended Denver Women's College and Northwestern University where she studied to become a dental hygienist. There she met her husband, William (Ed), whom she married on December 29, 1957. Together they raised five children in Fort Benton, Montana, before returning to Sterling, IL. Sue devoted her life to her family and her faith, and was an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Sterling.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Abram and Ruth Hey, her brother, Phillip Hey and her beloved husband, William Edward Cherry.
She is survived by her five children, Charles (Mary) Cherry, Charlene (Dan) Dubois, Daniel (Cam) Cherry, Doug (Becky) Cherry and Patricia (Fernando) Guerra; ten loving grandchildren and her dear sister, Janna. Sue will be deeply missed by her family and fondly remembered for her kind and gentle spirit.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Faith Baptist Church in Sterling. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Faith Baptist Church Children's Ministry in her memory.
