Louisa Darnell was born on July 18, 1829, in Alexandria (was then District of Columbia, now Virginia, a daughter of Henry Darnell and Leticia Grayson. Louisa married Noah Taylor c. 1844. They had three daughters: Gertrude, Constantia, and Martha. The family moved to Springfield, Ohio, and then settled in Cincinnati. Noah died before the 1880 Census.

Louise appears as a widow of Noah in the City Directory from 1887 to 1909, living at 117 Betts Street and then at 229 McFarland.
In about 1908 she moved to Chicago to live with her daughter Gertrude.
Louisa died on October 30, 1910, in Chicago, Illinois.
