Ernestine "Blondie" Wilkins, 91, of Hymera, passed away at 10:09 p.m. Monday November 26, 2007 at Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Jasonville. She was born in Sullivan County on May 4, 1916, the daughter of Charles May and Cora Tucker May. She retired from LTV Indiana Harbor Works Steel Mill, She owned and operated Blondie's Eagle Inn in Hymera for 58 years and was a life-time member of American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 298 in Hymera, and the Eagles Auxiliary in Gary. She is survived by one son, Al Wilkins Sr. and wife Gracie of Hymera; a brother, Elmer May of Connersville; a sister, Roxanna Laffoon of New Palestine; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Glen, James, Lewis, Carl, Lucien, and Clifford May; three sisters, Reba Brown, Bernice Lutz, and Phyllis Coffman; and one grand-daughter, Debra Lynn Wilkins. Funeral services will be at 1p.m. Friday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with Sharon Russell officiating. Interment in the K of P Cemetery in Hymera.
