She was born in Surry County, August 1, 1930, to the late Joseph Edgar Thomas and Etta Belle Lawson Riggs Thomas.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband Edward "E.P." Thomas; a son, Johnny Thomas; a sister Hilda Morrison; brothers, Hershel Thomas, William "Bill" Thomas, Leo Riggs, and J.B. Riggs.
Left to carry on her legacy are her children, Cynthia Collins and husband Mike, Janet Spicer and husband Marvin, Jr., and Jeffrey Thomas; grandchildren, Dawn Spence and husband Danny, Neal Horton and wife Christy, Lheanne Spicer, Marvin Lee Spicer, Chase Thomas, Hannah Evans and husband Adam; great-grandchildren, Austin Spence and wife Kelsey, Sarah Spence, Bryson Horton, and Amelia Horton; great-great-grandchildren, Amara and one on the way.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, September 20, 2021, at Rocky Ford Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Noel Hawks officiating. There will not be any formal visitation at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Backpack Program c/o Dobson Elementary, 400 W. Atkins St., Dobson, NC 27017, or Backpack Program c/o St. Paul Elementary School, 231 Flower Gap Rd., Cana, VA 24317.
