Richard Lee Porter was born November 1, 1940, in Prescott, Arkansas to Robert and Fannie Mae Porter. Richard was the youngest of six children. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings. He is survived by Margaret Porter, his wife of 60 years, two daughters: Ann Stone and husband, Gary, and Kay Powell and husband, Keith; 5 grandchildren: Courtney Hatfield and husband, Josh, Rachel Davis and husband, Austin, Hannah Stone, Madison Powell, and Corey Powell; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard and Margaret were married on June 3, 1960, in Laneburg, Arkansas. The lived in Prescott a few years and moved to Hope in 1966. Richard worked for Ford Motor Company for over 10 years, and he owned and operated Richard Porter Body Shop for about 30 years. He retired in 2000.

Richard and Margaret have been faithful members of Hope Church of Christ since 1968. Richard served as a Deacon for 12 years and as an Elder for 30 years.

Richard loved the outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish and camp. He enjoyed working on his land and in his garden. Since his retirement, he has developed a love for woodworking. Richard was also a "fix-it' kind of guy and a "do-it-yourselfer." He was very talented and always had several projects going on at any given time. He also spent many hours working on family genealogy.

Richard passed away September 16, 2021, in the hospital after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis
