Hayden W. Hagin was a 1966 graduate of Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois (back then called Aurora College). Subsequently, he taught at Freeman ES in Aurora, Ill. for a few years, where he was deeply respected, before moving to Vancouver, Washington.

"Hayden Wayne Hagin passed away Sept. 9, 2020 at his place of residence, in the loving presence of family. He was 76 years old.

Hayden was born on a small family farm in southern Georgia in 1943. His family would ultimately consist of seven brothers, two sisters, and two half-sisters. He would be the second to the youngest of the siblings. After spending most of his childhood in Central Florida, Hayden attended and graduated from Aurora College in Aurora, Illinois. While at Aurora, Hayden met and married his wife...

Following graduation from Aurora, Hayden embarked on his teaching and coaching career. After his initial teaching position in Illinois, Hayden and his family settled in Vancouver, WA, and Hayden began his long tenure with the Vancouver Public Schools. Hayden was a beloved math teacher and track and basketball coach, spending time at many local schools, including Shumway, Jason Lee, Gaiser, and Alki. Post-retirement, Hayden continued his love of teaching math by teaching at Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, Skyview, Columbia River and King's Way, before serving on the adjunct faculty at Clark College.

Outside of teaching, Hayden was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and then Columbia Presbyterian Church in Vancouver. Hayden was an active fisherman, enjoyed the pursuit of his golf game and relished the opportunity to camp with his family, exploring most corners of the U.S. on extended summer camping trips. It was always a great joy for Hayden to spend time with his grandchildren." ...
