The Reverend Gilbert Ferrell Hagin, 75, formerly of 20 Misty Mountain Way, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008.

Born in Waycross, Ga., he was the son of the late William A. and Emmaline Highsmith Hagin.

Mr. Hagin was a retired minister, Hejaz Shriner, and member of the Saluda, S.C., Advent Christian Outreach. He also served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years.

Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Opal Bishop Hagin; five sons, Dr. Linwood Hagin and his wife, Lisa, of Greenville, Scott Hagin and his wife, Peggy, of Edwardsville, Ill., Garrett Hagin and his wife, Jaymee, of Birmingham, Ala., Bret Hagin and his wife, Tommie, of Concord, N.C., and Bart Hagin of Matthews, N.C.; four brothers; two sisters; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 10, 2008, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.

The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 11, 2008, at Gap Creek Baptist Church in Marietta.

An additional visitation will be held Monday, August 11, 2008, from 12:45 to 1:15 p.m., prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be in Grand View Memorial Gardens in Travelers Rest, S.C.

Memorials may be made to the Gap Creek Baptist Church, Building Fund, 381 Gap Creek Road, Marietta, SC 29661.
