John (Royal Marine) was convicted in Maidstone, Kent, England, on 8 March 1852 to Assault and Robbery and sentenced to 15 years transportation.

On leaving court, John commented, "Thank you, my lord, that is better than soldiering."

John arrived in Fremantle aboard the ship "Ramillies" on 7 August 1854. He was given a Ticket-of-Leave on 15 August 1856 and a Conditional Pardon on 8 August 1859.

Died in Albany Convict Hospital.
