Franklin Willard Long, Sr., 88, a resident of Brooklyn Heights Community, Parsons, passed from this life on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Davis Medical Center.

Frank was born Wednesday, March 29, 1933, in Otter Creek at the family farm in Tucker County, a son of the late Paul Bunyan Long and Alma Helen Waybright Long Nestor Paugh.

Frank had been married to Ruth Rosella Pifer Long, and had remained friends as they shared two children, Kathleen Coberly and Frank Long, Jr., both of Parsons, two grandchildren he loved dearly, Eric Pennington and Jessica Long, both of Parsons, two brothers, Dennis Long and Robert W. "Bill" Long both of Parsons, four sisters, Ruby Huffman of Lanesville, Trudy Helmick and husband, Rusty, of Hambleton, Judy Long McGuire of South Carolina and Nancy Wetzel of Ohio, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and a special companion, Sage, his Rottweiler that never left his side.

Preceding Frank in death besides his parents were four brothers, Boyd, Douglas, Steven, and Lee and one sister, Pauline Carr.

Frank attended the schools of Tucker County.

He had logged with work horses, worked for several logging camps along with several sawmills too.

He also worked for Hinchcliff, Kingsford, and had retired from the US Forest Service Department of Agriculture, North Eastern Forest Experiment Station Timber and Watershed Lab.

An avid outdoorsman, Frank loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1pm until 2pm, the funeral hour. Rev James Snyder will officiate, and interment will follow in Long Family Cemetery at Otter Creek.
