Paul Douglas "Doug" Long, 72, a resident of Hendricks, passed from this life Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Davis Medical Center in Elkins.

Doug was born on Wednesday, March 6, 1946, in Jenningston, a son of the late Paul Bunyon Long and Alma Waybright Long.

On May 1, 1986, in Parsons, he was married to the former Gladys Virginia "Bunny" Mason, who survives.

Also left to cherish Doug’s memory are two sons, Jerry Lynn Mason and wife, Amanda, of Clayton, Ohio, and Eric David Mason and wife, Christy, of Hambleton; five grandchildren, Tyler David Mason, Riley William Mason, Stella Elizabeth Mason, Keira Ruth Mason and Sara Ashley Mason; three brothers, Frank W. Long, Robert W. "Bill" Long, both of Parsons and Dennis "Denny" Long of Clover Run; four sisters, Ruby Huffman of Dry Fork, Judy Long of California, Trudy Helmick and husband, Rusty, of Hambleton and Nancy Weitzel of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are three brothers, Boyd, Steve and Lee Long; and one sister, Pauline Grace Long Helmick Carr.

Doug attended Hamrick School and had worked in sanitation and for Kingsford.

He worked for 34 years for Hinchcliff Lumber having retired as a planer operator.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

He loved his animals, especially his pup, Cody.

He was always willing to help people and he deeply loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was a member of Riverview Chapel.

A visitation will be held at the Hostetler Funeral Home on Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Monday, June 18, at 11 a.m.

The Rev. James Snyder will officiate, and interment will follow at Parsons City Cemetery in Parsons.

The Hostetler Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Paul Douglas "Doug" Long.
