William Lavon Johnson

William Lavon Johnson, age 76, went home to be with his heavenly Father on September 9, 2021. William was the son of the late Ben and Sadie Johnson and the grandson of Talmage and Ada Johnson and Andy and Lottie Johnson.
He was a retired construction worker, mechanic, and plumber. William enjoyed working with Tennessee Walking horses in the early 70's. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
William is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ruby Johnson of Berea; two daughters, Connie (Randy) Kates of Berea, and Nancy (Billy) Powell of Richmond; four grandchildren, Russell Kates, Dustin Kates, Amber Kates, and Shay Johnson, a grandson that he helped raise and was the light of his life; his precious little dog, Woolie; seven siblings, Flonnie (the late James) Coffey, Bonnie (Allen) Alexander, Ina (Larry) Abrams, Brenda (Richard) Saylor, Ada (Jeff) Bowman, Mildred (Russ) Chamberlain, and Kenneth (Lori) Johnson all of Berea. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Barbara (Oscar) Gregory, Shirdy Johnson, Alma (Norman) Hall, Luke Johnson, Kenny Johnson.
Graveside services will be 2pm, Monday, September 13, 2021, at Johnson Cemetery followed by the burial. Visitation will be from 11 am to 1:30 pm at Lakes Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Larry Abrams, Russ Chamberlain, Kenneth Johnson, Dustin Kates, Russell Kates, and Shay Johnson.
