❦ Early Life: Dan was born August 2, 1948, in Provo, Utah, to Royal Dow and Elaine Parry Murphy. With bright blue eyes and a big smile, Dan was a lively kid. He was a Cub Scout, who loved exploring and adventure. He graduated from Orem High School with a love of cars, a lot of mischief, and lasting friendships.
❦ Life's Work | Service | Interests: Following high school, Dan's love of adventure continued. He was a member of the Zeta fraternity and often shared great memories of a solo cross-country road trip, 30 days in the wilderness as part of a BYU survival course, and drumming in a band called The Toads. He loved the outdoors and could often be found hiking, biking, camping, fishing, hunting, or 4-wheeling. He was always on a quest to improve himself and enjoyed reading and learning about health. Throughout his career, he worked in construction building miniature golf courses and as a salesman in the automotive industry. In 1976, he married Dianne Jaehnig and gained a son, Murphy. In 1986, they adopted a daughter, Danielle. Dan enjoyed speaking to people and sharing stories. He felt deeply and loved a lot. He especially loved his family and was so proud of them. Dan Royal Murphy passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021, in Salt Lake City, Utah, after five months of enduring a myriad of medical issues. He was 73.
❦ Survived By: Two children: Murphy and Danielle; five grandchildren: Shauntay, Karly, Kai, Kate, and Owen; two great-grandchildren: Hayden and Hunter; and his five siblings: Susan, Carl, Helen, Shaun, and Randy.
