Jane Sanders was born in Nashville, Tennessee, July 30, 1830; and departed this life in Ridgway, Colorado; August 26, 1914, aged 84 years and 27 days.
When a small child she moved with her parents near Lewisville, Kentucky, where they resided for several years. From there they moved to Montgomery county, Illinois. Here she met Harlan W Atteberry and was married at Scottville, Illinois, November 23, 1849. To this union were born two children, William P and Robert F. On February 15, 1853; she buried her husband in Scottsville, Illinois.
November 22, 1854, she was married to Noah H Eaves in Girard, Illinois. To this union were born six children, four of which are living.
In the spring of 1860 in company with her husband they crossed the plains to Denver, Colorado with an ox team.
In the summer of 1865 in company with her children she crossed the plains to St Joseph, Missouri arriving there the 3rd day of July. The following fall, at Fort Leavenworth, her husband was mustered out of the army where he had served four years in the 2nd Regiment Colorado Cavalry. They then moved to Cloud county, Kansas, where they lived until August 1894 when they moved to Ridgway, Colorado. In 1896 she buried her husband in Dallas Park Cemetery. Since that time she has made her home with her daughter Mrs J E Jones.
She is survived by two sisters, one brother, five children and several grandchildren. Robert F Atteberry of Concordia, Kansas; Herbert Eaves of Industry, Kansas; Mrs Susie Morgan of Salt Lake City, Utah; Mrs J E Jones and W T Eaves of Ridgway, Colorado.
When a young girl she united with the M E church and has lived a consistent Christian life in early years being an earnest work in the church.
