Maria Stryker (nee Van Nortwick) was the wife of Peter Stryker (1749-1828). Peter served in the Troop of Light Horse in the Somerset Co, NJ Militia during the Revolution.

In the nearby Neshanic Cemetery, located approximately 7 miles from the Hillsborough Reformed Church, several generations of Peter and Maria Stryker's descendants are buried. These descendants include their granddaughter Cornelia Sebring (nee Van Zandt) (1823-1890), great-grandson James VN Sebring (1851-1900), and gr-gr-granddaughter Cora Van Aulen (nee Sebring) (1878-1967). Maria Van Nortwick was born on Mar 16, 1752, baptised on Apr 26, 1752 at the First Reformed Church of New Brunswick, Somerset County, New Jersey, and died Apr 30, 1829 at the age of 77.

She married Peter Stryker circa 1768. He was born Oct 19, 1749 and died Feb 12, 1828 at the age of 78. He was the son of Pieter Strycker and Anne Perrine.

She joined the the Dutch Church in Millstone, Somerset County, New Jersey in Nov, 1795.

The tombstone next to her husband's reads, " In Memory of Maria Stryker." Her. tombstone stands in the Hillsborough Dutch Reformed Church yard at Millstone, New Jersey, sixth row from the back, 14th or 16th from the street.
