In abt 1856 Allen moved his family by covered wagon to Boone County, Iowa. Allen went to work as a foreman of a road crew. He was injured on the job in 1856 and died within a few days. He was 32y, 11mo, 23d. In 1865 his wife returned to Iowa with the 4 boys (1860 census of Franklin, Morrow, Ohio). Those sons include James K. and Allen A. Jr.
