Russell was born on June 2, 1919 in Big Falls, Wisconsin On June 14, 1940 he was united in marriage to Mildred Raven in Oshkosh, a woman he was devoted to until her death on February 19, 2001.
Russell proudly served in the Army during World War II where he participated in the Battle of Bulge.
Russell is survived by his family to which he devoted his life, three daughters, Sharon Burg of Sturgeon Bay, Katy (James) VanDeelen and Mary Beth (K.C.) Schmidt both of Sheboygan; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Anne (Mark) Lang and their children, Allison and Evan, Susan (Bob) Fredricks, Molly VanDeelen, Ted Schmidt and Will Schmidt, all of Sheboygan; a sister, Jean (Gill) Smet of Fond du Lac and a brother, Darwin (Delores) McNinch of Oshkosh.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gordon, Harold and Douglas and his sisters, Elizabeth McNinch and Marlys Curran.
Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.
