Daughter of John and Jane Shafer and wife of LTC(R) Charles Odom. A 1988 graduate of Brunswick, Maryland High School and 1992 graduate of West Point, Jennifer was a U.S. Army pilot. She died when her DeHavilland RC-7 reconnaissance plane crashed in the mountains of Colombia, killing her and four other crewmembers. The Captain Jennifer J. Shafer Odom Physical Fitness Center at Fort Detrick in Frederick, Maryland is named in her honor.
