A visitation will take place on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Scanio Harper Funeral Home, 3110 Airport Rd. Temple, Texas 76504.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 10:00 am at the funeral home followed by burial at Eddy Cemetery in Eddy, Texas.
Gene worked for SPJST in Temple, Texas retiring as Vice President after 35 years of service. He is survived by his wife Frances McBride of Temple, children; Darrell McBride and wife Darlene of Italy, Rusty Pecot of Belton, Darla Morgan and husband Brian of Italy, and Amy Whitaker of Bruceville, 10 grandchildren; Derek, Levi, Melisa, Jason, Robert, Blake, Hunter, Chasidee, R.J., and Logan, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents Ollie and Mittie McBride and brothers Cecil and Edwin McBride. In lieu of flowers memorials to SPJST Scholarship Fund or to Camp Kubena care of SPJST Foundation or to Lewy Body Dementia Association (www.lbda.org) would be appreciated.
